Eating from Our Pantry – Weeks 2 & 3

I’ve really enjoyed eating from our freezers and pantry. It’s helped us use up quite a bit of items in our freezers specifically . . . items I had completely forgotten about. I think even after finishing up this month of eating primarily from our freezer I will still have several completely prepared freezer meals that I can incorporate into our menus in August.

In Week 2, we used up quite a few things from our freezer because we had a large get together at our house. We used up two packages of steak, four chicken breasts, ten hamburger patties, and eight hotdogs. We had some leftovers after that event so Jason and I ate leftovers the following week.

Week 3 went well also. Carrie, Drew, and Carter spent a few days with me, and they helped me continue to eat foods from our pantry and freezers. We enjoyed a quiche, spaghetti (with sauce from the freezer), as well as plenty of leftovers that were in my fridge.

Carrie and I also added quite a bit to our pantry and freezer this week. That might seem a bit backward in the middle of this challenge. However, we were canning and baking in order to preserve produce that we had. Jason and I have a prolific apple tree; Carrie agreed to come out to help with preserving the bounty. In addition, peaches were on a good sale this week so I bought seven pounds of peaches to preserve.

  1. My dad and I have been good about eating what’s in our fridge/pantry :) :) We walked to the store today to pick up a few things to supplement what we needed for today…but that was it :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather ;)
